How big is your “WHY”?

Your “WHY” has to be bigger than the discomfort you experience to achieve your “WHY”!

That felt really profound to me.

Your desire for good health has to be bigger than your desire to take it easy.

Your desire to be fit has to be bigger than your desire to sit.

Your desire to improve your skills has to be bigger than your desire to scroll on your phone.

Your desire for God has to be big enough to motivate you to study His Word and integrate study of His Word into every day life; where the consumption and application of the Bible becomes part of the rhythm of your day, week, and year!

Your desire for raising Godly children has to be greater than your desire to fit in with the world.

Your desire for a good marriage has to be greater than your desire to be right all the time.

Your desire for friendship has to be greater than your desire to only think about yourself.

Your desire to die to self has to be bigger than the need to feed your ego.

How do you build desire? Is it something that you just need to do; pull up your boot straps? Or is it more layered and complex. I do know it is a mind set. If you are thinking negative thoughts about a situation, you will seldom find the motivation to fix it. I think you have to start with the end in mind. You have to know a direction to go to create momentum. So clarify what you want; set goals to help get you there; be clear about why you want this.

You will have to work on mindset along the way. This isn’t something that you just decide once and it happens. You have to build the desire to some extent. Identify thoughts that are not serving you and be honest with yourself about why you are resistant. Action is needed – both physically and mentally. Be realistic and be prepared to take baby steps towards the goal. Be patient with yourself with setbacks, but also be persistent. Remind yourself “WHY” this is important to you!
